I bought this product over a year ago for my daughter who was in 1st grade at that time. It has taken full one year of usage and I feel comfortable in writing an informed review at this time. Here are the few observations about the product that you may find useful:1. This arrived in a large study box- fully assembled.2. The unit is made of wood and has a clear finish. It cannot be disassembled easily and is not intended for re-painting, as someone asked.3. It has a total of 8 compartments- four on each level. Each compartment is 8 inches wide, giving you a total of 64 inches (8x8) of linear shelf space (equivalent to a small two shelf bookcase). Each compartment is about 13.5 inch high and 9 inch deep near the center to hold a full size book. For aesthetic purposes, it is advisable to put slightly smaller children books near the peripheree because the depth near the peripheree is only 7 inches.4. When fully loaded with books, as we always have, it is a considerable amount of weight to hold. The construction quality is excellent and despite the amount of weight on it, the carousel is easy to rotate. My 7-year old daughter can easily spin it around with virtually no effort.5. The top part is a nice flat surfact where we store all daily need things in a supplies caddy.6. This unit is holding very well, despite daily heavy usage. I expect this to last for years and years, like any well made wooden furniture.7. Finally, one negative point: The price of this unit has gone up from $180 to $215 over a 14 month period. This is a significant price increase. Given what I know about it now, it is a reasonable (not great) price.

Comes fully assembled, very sturdy, holds TONS of books without looking messy. First one was for a bedroom and plan to buy a second for our playroom.

Bought this almost a year ago for my son's room. He's 4 and loves his books. This has been one of my best buys for his room. It's sturdy, attractive and after a year of heavy use (lots of spinning) it's still turns easily, even on very plush carpet. Best thing about it is that it's right at his level and he can access his books whenever he wants and we don't have to worry about a flimsy book case falling over.
