Product Description
Rock Creek Hunter with a Nessmuk Style Blade. Forged from a high-alloy steel (HWS-1) proprietary to Hanwei, with an edge hardness of 58-60HRc and excellent corrosion resistance, edge-holding and ease of sharpening. The blade thickness is 3/16-Inch, and the blade is flat ground. An aggressive thumb grip is provided on the back of the blade for blade control. The Tang is very substantial, terminating in a short thread at the pommel. The stacked-leather handle employs bark-tanned leather and is secured by a sleeve nut at the pommel. The guard and pommel are investment cast in stainless steel. Sheath is made in bark-tanned leather with stainless steel reinforcing at the wear points and has a strap-and-snap retainer.

OMG! I was not sure what to expect when I ordered this knife because it is made in Dalian China but boy was I surprised. The care and time Rock Creek took to package this item alone was something I have never seen, it came in a double boxed foam padded slide out wrapped in paper. It was like a cardboard presentation case.(almost)The knife is absolutly beautiful with fit and finish unlike anything Ive seen in a while. I was expecting to touch up the blade after it arrived but boy was I shocked to find it was actually shaving sharp from the box so be careful.The tang on this is really thick and the leather handle is well done,its just the right size and fits my hand perfect unlike the way kabar is making theres so small now. I have not had the chance to use this knife yet (I just got it) but it should be fine with the HWS-1 steel Plus Amazon had the best price. I dont think this knife will hold up to pounding on it splitting wood or making stakes but it should last a lifetime or more as a quality hunting knife. I will have to update this as I am able to use the knife.Hope this helps.

My primary gripe with this knife is the handle. It's not round in cross section but rectangular. This shape does not provide as good a grip as a whole round and over time will cause more blisters. Considering that you can buy an army knife with a full round handle for $20 surplus I'm surprised by this rather cheap feature. And I consider this a fairly expensive knife.

This is a beautiful well built knife. The knife is well balanced, blade holds edge really well. I use it for hunting and fishing. Great all around knife. Bought the knife on Amazon saved me about 20 percent beow other sites!
