i just got this watch today. i had seen it in the store, and read about it here on amazon. i'm taking it back. it's a neat looking watch, and i like how it's pretty simple, compared to alot of the other g-shock watches. i like the analog time, and i like how the hands aren't huge, so that even when the analog hands are at the top of the watch face, with a little moving around, you can still see the numbers to the digital display. i need a watch with second measurements, and so the digital display at the top is important for me to be able to see at all times.i do NOT like that-the digital displays show up red, on a black background. it looks cool, but is not very practical, especially with low-light situations, (aka whenever you're not directly under a light,) and it just seems like an easily avoidable problem. i have trouble reading it at a glance, which is something i need to be able to do, for my job.-the buttons aren't hard to push, but they're not easy, either. seems like they could have made them less recessed in the case, especially when other g-shock watches have bigger buttons, boasting "easy to push buttons, for when wearing gloves, etc." indicate that they're aware of possible problems in this area.-the digital timer and stopwatch functions only go up to 59 minutes and 59 seconds. they'll repeat if you set it that way, but again...WHY?!?!? one of the biggest benefits of digital watches is the ability to track multi-hour timed events. if you don't think you'll need to time anything longer, then this won't be a problem.that's it. judge for yourself. the picture shows the display as brighter than it is in the real world.

I purchased this watch mainly on looks, because the only review was a little negative on viewing the watch. I must respectfully disagree with the first reviewer. I was in the market for a rugged watch, but one that was not too big because I work in logistics and need movement of my hands and wrists, often while wearing gloves. Well, this watch does not disappoint.I usually lifting very heavy objects all day long and most of my other watches just get in the way and create uncomfortable pinching pressing. This watch stays neatly out of the way and is very comfortable so I don't notice it all day long. It's very easy to read, when you illuminate it and it stays dark at night, so no worries if you need to stay out of sight. It is designed for military use, so I see this being a useful feature.Very easy to program with a ten minute read through the instructions. Comes in a nice little tin, as well. Couldn't be happier with my first G-shock. I love the style and comfort. This watch is a little smaller than most traditional g-shocks.

I have been a wearing G Shock Watches for 17 years now. I always have one in my collection being used. This one was disappointing. I was interested in the matte "blacked out" appearance and found it strange that hand on the face as well as the hour markers for the analog number makers were done in a polished metal of some sort making them shin even in low light conditions which generally defeats the purpose of everything else being so muted on the face. I also own the G Shock Street Rider watch which is what this watch is based on.However, with the black on black look, in a matte finish it makes the watch appear smaller that what I expected. The color is not as deep a black as other G Shock, really appearing in contrast to be a dark grey color and the band is very thin and I wonder how it would hold up over time with regular levels of stress. The size is smaller than the extra large faces and that's what i wanted, but it's too small. Part of the appeal of the G Shock line for me is the larger size. They look tough and perform well over time. I did not find difficulty with reading the face quickly at a glance, or even in low light. What matters is the proper angle and you will be able to read all you need to see.I am still a big fan of G Shocks and I ended up going with the DW-6900 MS and am very happy with it after about a month of use. I am not saying this is a bad watch by far but I thought this approach might help someone else save time and money with critical review done by someone who really wanted to like this watch.
