This is a genuine mattress (and not merely a mattress topper). Like all foam mattresses I've purchased, it comes in a vacuum-sealed bag and looks very, very compressed when not opened. The sealed mattress could easily be mistaken for a topper. But, after opening, my mattress expanded overnight to its claimed 6" height.My mattress was from Boyd Specialty Sleep via Target.com, and the mattress label says it is made in China (SKU MEFR01311TW). Also like all foam mattresses I've purchased, this one had a normal foam odor when first opened, but it dissipated overnight.Overall, an excellent and very comfortable 6" mattress for the price. Very happy with it.

I got this to top off a loft bed for the kid's new bedroom. I slept in it myself to make sure the new loft bed wasn't rickety or wobbly... and heck, I haven't slept in a loft bed since I was a kid, c'mon. But now I'm jealous. Very comfy. Thinking about upgrading my own mattress to memory foam because of it. Can't really say much better about it than that.
