I was hesitant before dropping seventy five bucks on this dog jacket. I mean, it's a jacket for a dog. A small dog, too!Then it arrived, and I saw why. The quality of this jacket is very, very high. No extra threads popping out of the seams. The material has a substantial feel to it. It has a nice fleece lining on the inside, and a waterproof outer layer.It fits by slipping the jacket over the dog's head. The back portion lays nicely on the dog's back. Then you bring the straps underneath the belly up and over the back and snap in place. Very easy.What they don't show in the photos is how the back part of the jacket stays on. There are two narrow elastic strap loops at the end of the back piece. You must place your dog's back legs through these elastic loop pieces in order for the jacket to stay in place. I don't know why they didn't show these straps in the photos. My sheltie doesn't seem to mind them.Be sure to measure your dog well to make sure that you are getting the right size of jacket. You should measure your dog from the withers to the base of the tail. My sheltie measured 13 inches from the withers to the base of her tail, so she wears a size 13. If your dog measures 20 inches in this area, then you'd need a size 20. There is a size chart for Hurtta Dog gear at tawzer dot com.It looks fantastic on my sheltie, I must say. Very hip and stylish. She looks like a rock star. Not only that, but it keeps her belly protected from deep snow. Have you ever had to deal with those dang snowballs that stick to long dog fur? They're tough to get off, and when they melt, they leave a mess. I'm sure that they can't be comfortable for the dog, either. This jacket almost completely eliminates the fur-snowballs accumulating on her belly (they still stick to her legs, though!). This jacket also keeps the rain off of her back which means less clean up for me after a walk in the rain.I think this is jacket is high-priced, but it's totally worth the splurge for your furkid. :)
