My wife and I being the overprotective parents of two French Bulldog's ordered two Solvit Jumbo Tagalong seats for our boys to help keep them safe whenever they come along on car rides. Prior to purchasing the pup car seats we were just letting our boys lay around in the backseat. But with a long Thanksgiving road trip looming we were determined to find something to keep our dogs safe in the event of an accident or even hard braking.After returning from our trip I feel qualified enough to write a review of the product.First, the overall quality of the product is a mixed bag. The frame is made of hard interlocking plastic pieces that keep the assembly secure. The design is sturdy and solid enough to keep from the seat from wobbling. The seat is secured on the lower back portion by passing a seatbelt through both the cloth liner and plastic frame. The cloth outer liner is solid brown - at least in both of the seats that I received - and not the quilted pattern that appears in some of the customer pictures or in the product description. Not a major deal to me but something to be aware of. The inner liner is an off-white sheepskin liner that is secured with Velcro strips to the outer liner. The included reversible pillow is sheepskin on one side and the same brown color on the reverse as the seat.One of the major problems with this seat is that it is majorly lacking in padding. Besides the pillow on the bottom there is no padding. The sheepskin liner is a cheap, thin material that really doesn't add any significant padding. With an impending 9hr drive ahead of us I couldn't let my dogs sit/lay in the seat as is. While we initially considered returning both seats my wife decided to try adding foam padding she purchased from a local hobby store.Another problem is the size of the seat. Although described as "jumbo" one of my Frenchie's who comes in at 30lbs really filled out the seat. He was even more snug after we added .5" of foam padding all the way around the seat.Finally the included strap that is used to clip the dog's harness into is entirely too short to allow dog's of my size - 30lbs and 26lbs. - to turn and adjust in the seat. We ended up having to purchase 3" extensions to the strap to give our pups a bit more breathing room.All told I really cannot recommend the product as is. Only after significant modifications (and added expense) to the seats were we comfortable enough to let our dogs use them. Even then I probably won't put my dogs through a multi-hour car ride in these seats again.

This seat is so wonderful. My dog is able to see out the windows, and is secure with an border around the seat to prevent him from falling to the floor when I break. There is also a clip to attach to his collar when he is in the seat for added protection. The whole seat attaches to the seat belt like a child's car seat. I will say it is somewhat difficult to secure it to the car seat belt. I have been very happy with this seat booster, and the company I ordered it from. I would recommend this to anyone in need of a dog booster seat for the car.

We have four dogs and it was crazy trying to take more than one of them in the car at a time. I would have to sit in the back seat and the dogs would fight over who would sit on me. There were too many long, hot, hairy car rides for me. I ordered 2 booster seats to see if the dogs would like them and stay in them and they all loved them. We have a Boston Terrier, 2 French Bulldogs and an English Bulldog. Originally we purchased a safety harness for our English, but she didn't like it. She is a very compact 40 lbs, so we tried her in the booster seat and she loved it! She can turn around in it and lay down. We returned the harness and purchased 2 more booster seats. Now everyone has their own and I can sit in the front seat again. They all love to look out the window. It's the perfect height and everyone is safe. We have 2 seats that I take in and out of my car on a regular basis, so I leave them in my living room when I don't need them. The one day I was missing one of our French Bulldogs. I couldn't find her to save my life. All of a sudden I noticed that she was all curled up in the seat in the living room. These seats get used even in the house! One of the best purchases I have ever made. Worth every penny. Great product!
