I bought this pen for my wife and she loves it. Her first comment was "It's beautiful", She loves the smoothness while writiing, and since she is having a bad flair with arthritis it has become the only pen she uses.

I am a newbie to fountain pens and currently own two, of which the Cross is my second pen. The body of the pen is made of plastic which is a little disappointing given that I paid more for it than my Parker IM fountain pen. The nib is apparently gold-plated while the Parker pen nib is stainless steel so perhaps that's why. Still, it's a very pretty pen with gold appointments and a rich burgundy color. The cap screws on. The pen writes well although the tip tends to dry out if you sit holding it in your hand while you organize your thoughts as I do, but it starts up again pretty easily. The width of the line seems finer than my Parker IM pen, but I've already noticed that the nibs seem to start out 'finer' than they become after a period of use so that may not stay true. Overall, I like my new pen very much.
