This unique design folds flat so it's about an inch and half thick by four inches wide by sixteen inches long. That's with the sliding vertical support and head removed. It would fit nicely into a suitcase which is why I bought it. Unfortunately I thought the tripod was a little too unstable with a heavy 70-200mm lens with camera at 5.5 pounds. If you also buy a head, it's the same price as the A1691T which I ended up keeping as it's more stable. Both are well made products and come with interchangeable rubber feet and spikes.I bought the BH1 head and it has great locking levers with a great plate but no panorama. The travel angle comes with the B0 head with knobs instead of levers but has a difficult to use plate but panorama. I ended up keeping the BH1 head for the A1691T.http://www.amazon.com/Benro-A1691T-Travel-Transfunctional-Aluminum/dp/B004477MF6/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1329753670&sr=8-1

I bought this tripod for travel. It folds flat, is very short and fits easily in a suitcase or carry-on bag. I used it with a Nikon D700 (full frame DSLR) and it was stable and it worked fine.

I was a bit worried when I got this tripod...one of it's greatest attributes is that it folds really flat and is very small, which is great for travel. Given it's size though, I thought it would be wobbly and not very usable. However, I recently used it on a commercial shoot where I didn't want to take a ton of heavy gear when traveling across county. The tripod held up! I used a heavy, L series canon 70-200 lens with a heavy 1DS Mark III body and it was rock solid! I wouldn't use it all the time, especially when I have assistants to lug my gear around, but it is fantastic for travel, and the price is definitely right.
