I received and installed this item today. I had dropped my laptop and smashed the screen so I looked up on youtube how to replace it. The process had a ton of steps (many that were not needed as it turns out) but was pretty simple. I was able to disassemble and reassemble the unit in about an hour. As for this screen, it is exactly like the original except for one detail. The original LCD has an aluminum foil backing covering the whole back of the unit. It didn't seem to serve any usable purpose until the first time I turned the laptop on. When the "HP" light on the lid of the computer turns on you can actually see it through the back of this screen. Luckily, as soon as the backlight turns on in the LCD you can no longer see the ghost of the lid light. Just make sure you match the entire item number to your computer. There is more than one kind of HP Pavilion DV4. You can find the entire item number for your computer on the bottom of the unit. Anyway, the screen looks and performs exactly as well as the original. My suggestion to anyone planning to do this themselves is that you disassemble your computer first, before you buy the screen. That way if you manage to break something in the process you haven't wasted your money.Good luck! This was a great purchase for me. I'm glad I didn't have to buy a new computer!!

My daughter dropped and cracked the computer. A friend who is a tech guy said this was all i needed to fix it. He put it in for me and it has worked perfectly. Sure saved me a lot of money.

I ordered this screen to replace the factory one I broke (in a fit of rage LOL). It took me about 17 minutes to replace and is as good as the day I bought it. I highly reccomend this screen!
