These are the best stands I have every owned. Rock solid with old school Polk monitor 5's on them. You may think the wood ones will look better, but unless you need an exotic look, they cannot hold a candle to these, and for me, are spouse approved. They went together easy, with all parts fitting flawlessly, and do a great job of isolating the speaker, with the enclosed pads and spikes. I am very happy with these, don't think about it just do it.

bad engineering and quality control

Looks nice..BUT..the cast iron base on one is not made properly. There is a recess molded in the base to receive the pipe. One is very shallow and not level,when put together this one leans the vertical pipe back almost 15 degrees...very obvious. Rather than ship back ,I took a grinder to the base of the pipe to correct the mistake in the casting of the base. If using on hardwood floors...you must use the spikes with plastic "pucks" under them...they are easily mis-lodged any time you move the stands...and a pain to see to center again on the sharp spike...I removed the spikes and instead used my own stick on rubber pads. Poor quality control and engineering but in the end they did the job I wanted...with my tweaking.

Easy to build and solid. I filled mine with sand and drilled a hole in the base of them. My speakers had a 1/4" thread in the bottom so I bolted them down. Improved sound quality. Bass is much more accurate. Stands are stealth and blend in to your room. VTI brand sticker is easily removed.
