Replaced a mobile home style heater

Rheem water heater 82V30-2 was used to replace a 17 year old mobile home style (side connections) unit. The plumbing configuration change was reasonably easy and the Rheem holds its temperature close to the thermostat setting. The older unit was overheating and making noise due to buildup of calcium and iron over the years. The Rheem has a self-cleaning feature and its construction is an improvement over the typical mobile home unit. Is it worth paying $200 more? I decided it was because of its likelihood of providing a longer trouble free service life. (check reviews on the cheaper mobile home type at Lowes and Home Depot) The heater shipped well (CEVA trucking). No box damage and it was intelligently packed. The manual provides a clear warning about setting water temperature. 125 degrees is fine for me. It will not cause an immediate burn, and with the fast recovery of the unit, adequate hot water is available at all times. You might see how low a water temperature you can get by with. It is much safer to use 125-degrees or lower to protect children and the elderly.
