Great Product

Very well built. Not solid wood of course but still very sturdy. Easy to assemble. It's not very deep so if you have pets and are placing this on carpet, I might suggest securing it to the wall with a L bracket. Very impressed overall.

NOTE: There is a large manufacturer's sticker on one of the panels. I made the mistake of ripping it off, thinking the sticker wasn't a true 'glue' -well, it ripped off the fake laminate paint - so now there's a big white scratch patch. If you use this vertically- no problem: The sticker's on the bottom. But I use mine horizontally, so now I have to figure out how to conceal this.Shipment: this purchase took a much longer time to deliver than any other Amazon purchase. It took nearly the full 10 days from purchase to receive. I was a bit disappointed, but it wasn't advertised to be any speedier.Materials: I would NEVER pay the full price listed for this bookcase. This is cheap pressed wood with a fake finish. I'm ok with that - I wanted something cubicle and modern - didn't expect a "real wood" look. At the same time - these materials would not be worth any more than the $156 or so I paid.Packaging: Weighs 66-70 lbs. Heavy, but manageable. What's notable is the packaging - the manufacturer took the time to package extra support around each corner, which helps ensure the contents won't be damaged during shipment. As a result, it took quite awhile to get the package open, but I was impressed with this extra detail.Appearance: Other than materials being cheap, I love the design. It's a large bookcase, but it's visually interesting - same as the picture.Assembly: I thought it was easy. I had an electric drill, which I've never had with previous assemblies. (Wow what a difference!) I'm a smart but NOT construction-savvy woman, and I had it fully assembled in about an hour and fifteen minutes. If you take time to lay everything out, understand the instructions, and follow them step-by-step, it's pretty darn easy.All the pieces are labeled, so it's easy to map them to the instructions.Only exception: One of the (last) pieces had incorrect pre-drilled holes. It was supposed to be a bigger hole for one of the bigger screws (not sure what type it is- dowel?), but instead it was a small hole. So... I had to drill it myself. I checked about 4-5 times, to see if I made an error somewhere, but I can't see that I did.What I'm using this for: I have this laying on its side, as an entertainment center in my living room. I have a cable management issue, but this is otherwise a perfect fit and looks great. I have a brand new 46" LCD flat screen sitting on this bookcase - I'm a little nervous to have a $1,000 TV sitting on top of a bookcase that wasn't designed for this use, but the TV and base weigh no more than 40 lbs, so it's probably (probably?!) not a problem.I'll probably secure the bookcase to the wall with a couple of L brackets, and will probably drill the TV base into the bookcase - just to make sure nothing moves. So as long as the shelves don't buckle, it should be ok (I hope!).Overall: Very happy with the purchase.

Scratched and shaky

When the book case was delivered almost every board had a chip or scratch or both on it. It is also very wobbly and unstable.
