Super Switch

I spent considerable time investigating Network Switches. This is the fastest switch available (throughput), although it it really a 3Com,but HP has apparently bought out this product line. Another plus was I did not want to hear fan noise, and this one is fanless. AND the price is right. Most of these 10/100/1000 are > $1000.The other thing I liked was it is a desktop unit, inside a nice housing; unlike the 19" rack mount, that are open.I set it on a couple of small cardboard pedastals, so the air can get under it nicely, and it certainly doesn't seem to run HOT, as some have mentioned, with the ambient in the room at 80 degrees even.THis unit was strictly plug-and-play. No hassles. When connecting the RJ-45's, Be sure everything is powered down, computers, router, modem, etc.I power up in this order: modem, router, switch, computers, printersI had a LinkSys switch that was about 5 years old. I replaced it with this HP (3COM) unit, and it has increased downstream from15 MBPS to 22 MBPS, on RR turbo.I also plan to replace the LinkSys 1610n Router with an Apple Airport Extreme, since it was rated 10/10 by lots of users.THe biggest reason is the Google Redirect Trojan out there. Apparently the Airport router has a better hardware firewalland needs less updating.Buy, Inc is fast with orders.Definitely recommend this switch.
