By Paige Purcell
So with twin 6 year olds and a nearly 3 year old, I've been through every kind of baby carrier there is, including Baby Bjorn, Ergo Carrier and a variety of slings and wraps. I've liked them all for the time frame during which they were useful, but they all have their issues. Bjorns are only great for a short time during infancy. Slings worked well for me, especially for infant phase (under 1 year), but they are murder on my shoulder and back if I use them for any length of time and it is my experience that older toddlers don't enjoy being confined against my side by the sling fabric. The Ergo Carrier is comfortable for your aching back and shoulder but it is HUGE and not convenient to just have in your diaper bag. Also, it is a network of buckles and straps that I find challenging to fiddle with while wrangling 3 kids. Also, you have to kind of commit to using it for the day. If you have a kid who likes to be picked up, put down, picked up, put down (like I do), then you find yourself walking around the mall with an enormous empty harness hanging from your torso while your toddler walks beside you. SO I ended up just leaving it at home and carrying my 30 lb 2 year old in my aching arms. SO when I saw this product I thought - THIS IS IT! The perfect solution. It allows my youngest to walk, get picked up and put down to walk again seemlessly! When he's not using it, it is just like wearing a fanny pack with a rigid top. Not really obtrusive, but it's definitely there. When you are done wearing it, you just release one buckle, un-velcro it and drop it in your backpack/ stroller net, whatever. It's just one buckle! Brilliant! Also, It really does seem to distribute the weight onto your hips well and seems very secure. Very comfortable. Easy to take on and off and throw in your bag when you are not using it. Thoughtful pockets all over it for your stuff (cell phone, keys, cash, diapers, etc.) I am really THRILLED to have found this carrier. I wish I had found it earlier before I spent all that money on all those other carriers!

When I first heard of BabyNari, the Baby Hip Hugger for Toddler - Black, Denim, Pink, Beige, Brown (Black) I got really excited. My 1 year old love to be carried and often is label spoiled because of how often we do so. To be honest though I love carrying my little guy even more so now that he is growing so fast and will soon not want me to do so.The toddler style Baby Hip Hugger we reviewed was created for children 1 year and older just like my Elliot. This device allows you to hold your child with the use of just one hand which allows parents to stay on the go. I have also noticed that when using the baby hip hugger, I have less strain on my back when holding him for greater lengths of time. This is great for shopping with your toddler, stools around the neighborhood and is a great addition if you happen to have a newer addition that requires you to push along a stroller (or even grocery cart) as you walk along carrying your child. My favorite feature is the ability to carry Elliot along without the use of straps. Since you are essentially keeping your child in place with one arm/hand, you can quickly sat them down for changing, walking, ect without having to take the time needed to unstrap from a typical baby carrier. You will also find inner pockets that you can secure keys, money and other valuable in while wearing the Baby Hip Hugger. A mesh pocket can be found on the outside that is ideal for a bottle, small drink cup or even a snack. There is also a zippered front that can be used to tote along additional items such as a diaper. Now BabyNari products are created for those with waist sizes 40 inches or smaller, so at a size 18 it is barely manageable for me currently. As I continue to lose weight, I am sure that it will become easier to use and more comfortable on my waist and hip line.

By S. Y. Choi
Between my almost 3 year old and a 6 month old, I have collected a few child carriers so far - Moby wrap, baby Bjorn, Ergo, Hotslings. Each one has their own pluses and minuses, and an age and situation that fit best. Right now, I am using Ergo and Hotslings for my 22lb 6 month old. But I am always on the lookout for the next great product to try. This really sounded good at first glance so I ordered one.Pros:The product seems really well made. Good quality material and construction. Pretty light considering the size.Cons:1) UncomfortableThey make the promise but it really doesn't work. You can't have 20,30,40 pounds on one hip with no leverage. Mine sank on the baby side, and dug into me on the opposite side. Didn't matter how loose or tight the belt.2) Bulky!I put it on and immediately I noticed the thing is quite big, a lot bigger than I thought. It is just as big or bigger than my Ergo folded up because of the styrofoam block you have to carry around under the seat. I originally thought I would just have this on me during the day at home, but no way! The seat part is pretty bulky so I can't leave it at the hip position. I would have to turn it behind me to make room for my arms when baby is not on me. Also the belt is very wide. When I have it on at a good height for me and baby, the bottom of the belt hits top of my leg. So when I walk with the baby, the belt repeatedly rubbed against my leg.3) Access to storage is inconvenientThere are several storage pockets that sounded like a plus. But when I tried to use them, it was pretty hard to reach any of them. a)The zip pocket under the seat is roomy but hard to access with baby on. You have to put the baby down to get anything in or out. Kinda funny shape because it wraps around the styrofoam block under the seat. b)Slots around inside the belt are not usable. Even their instruction says you have to put the belt on very tight. They say to buckle it while holding your breath! With the belt that tight, you just cannot reach into the inner side of the belt to take something out. c)Mesh pocket they advertise as a bottle pocket is too small for a bottle. It would fit a granola bar or two quite nicely but seriously nothing bigger or longer will fit.4) UnattractiveIt was just not good looking. With the wide belt tight around me I felt squeezed in a very unattractive way. The wide belt with all the velcros and buckle looks quite industrial as well. Maybe I should have ordered black so they wouldn't show so much, but I felt like a weight lifter. I don't know if this was a fluke but mine had half a zipper on top of the seat where the baby sits. What's up with that? I looked all around it for the other side of the zipper, but I don't think it zips onto anything. So I printed out the return label withint a few hours of receiving this thing.I am back to my beloved Ergo for longer carries & nursing on the go, and have hotslings in diaper bag for short carries!
