Otona no Chogokin Space Shuttle Endeavour Product Description:
- Official licensed product imporhted from Japan
Product Description
While the magnificent Saturn V Moon rocket is credited as being the most powerful machine ever created, NASA's long-serving Space Shuttle is credited as being the most complex machine ever built, with over 2.5 million parts.
Following up on the release of their amazing 1/144-scale Apollo 11/Saturn V Launch Vehicle, Bandai masterfully brings that complexity down to 1/144 scale in amazing detail with this surprise release of the Space Shuttle Endeavour.
Standing an impressive 39cm/15.5 inches tall (43.5cm/17.1 inches tall when mounted on the display base), this fantastic fully-finished replica is made of die-cast metal and plastic, and shows extraordinary levels of detail and accuracy thanks to Bandai's extensive use of the latest tech data and photo references. The intricate heat-resitant tile detail is there, plus all the NASA markings, accurately designed and beautifully applied.
The Orbiter, External Fuel Tank (ET), and Solid Rocket Boosters (SRB) can separate to depict the Endeavour in any of its mission configurations. The payload bay doors can be posed opened or closed, revealing even more incredible detail inside. The ISS (International Space Station) -use RMA (Remote Manipulator Arm) can be positioned to manipulate the MPLM (Multi Purpose Logistics Module), with clear display stands included to facilitate realistic posing.
Removable panels reveal flight deck and mid-deck details, as well as some internal rocket motor details. The landing gear can be shown extended or retracted, and the engine nozzles, elevons, body flap, and rudder/air brake assemblies are all movable.

By fredm6463
I just received this model and it is fantastically detailed. Better than any "American" made model of the Space Shuttle I have seen for sale on Internet. All parts are moveable, i.e., wing flaps, rudder, landing gear, payload bay doors with cargo to be placed inside.External Tank umbilical doors open and close in order to mount orbiter on external tank.Crew compartment removable top to see flight deck and also the mid-deck.Snap on Solid Rocket Boosters that are detachable! Detachable External Tank.Several different stands are provided to display the shuttle in launch configuration, in flight configuration with open payload bay doors, with payload inside or being held by the remote manipulator robotic arm. Can also display with shuttle in SRB separation mode and External Tank separation mode, as well as landing/landed mode with landing gear extended! No parachute though!.Only problems I had was that instructions are in Japanese. No English. Was able to follow drawings to assemble various accessories.Other problem was getting payload bay doors open. Instructions left out one step, but there was an additional piece of paper to amend instructions, but even with that extra step found it difficult to get payload bay doors open without nicking white paint on top of payload bay door centerline because I used finger nail to pry open door. Also, I was not able to remove top of crew cabin to reveal flight deck and then the mid-deck. I didn't want to pull too hard because I didn't want to damage model.Main stand comes with three lights so that one can illuminate the shuttle on the stand just as the real shuttle is illuminated on the launch pad.As an extra bonus model came with a separate crew mobile and crew men.Very good product. Would like manufacturer to make other accessories such as the SCA (Shuttle Carrier Aircraft (747)) so that one could mount the shuttle model on top of the 747. Also, to make it authentic looking on 747, the "tail cone" would have to be included with the 747. The "tail cone" covers the back of the orbiter's main engines so that there is smooth airflow around orbiter when it is flown on the back of the 747.I highly recommend this product for any shuttle fan who wants the very best detailed Space Shuttle model.

By Michael H. Cooper
If you have a strong enough interest in manned spaceflight then this is the must have model for you. I must emphasize that this is a high fidelity model, it is not a toy. And while most of the parts are metal this is not a model that you will be flying with you hand, or least not often! Yes the cost is pricey, but I can tell you that I am thoroughly satisfied with the product. It comes with a lighted stand, that in a darkened room makes the stack appear ready for a night launch. However you can choose to display in either launch or orbit mode. The shuttle itself is finely detailed. It has etched thermal blankets in the appropriate places as well as the tiling on the underside. It even has the "cut here in emergency" markings on the starboard side of the spacecraft. How many of you knew there were such markings on the shuttle. The payload bay doors open and close and reveal a very detailed payload bay area. The model comes with an external module which can be "grappled" just like the real thing. And yes it come with an RMS. The solid rocket motors as well as the external tank are also finely detailed. As the shuttle era comes to a close there are many good, less expensive space shuttle models to choose from. I chose this one because the manufacturer has a good reputation. And I wanted a shuttle model in this scale that I would be able to display prominently. This product lives up to those goals in every respect.

By R. G. Hesterberg
As the Shuttle program itself draws to a close, this is quite simply the best shuttle model in existence in every way and detail. Fabulously expensive but you do get what you pay for. The packaging/box itself is so amazing and high quality that you could actually display it. No doubt with the limited quantities produced and like the Otona No Chocokin Saturn V model which pre-ceeded it, it will keep it's value and probably appreciate so it's true cost will most likely only be the time value of your money.
