I attempted to use a flat drain with holes drilled in the surface in the powder room sink but the design of these drains would not let air into the drain to help the sink drain. At the end of the draining process the gasping of air that would occur sounded like a gurgle. This item has a slightly raised center that eliminates that problem. the sink now drains quickly and quietly.

I should have trusted the photo...I was looking for a grid-style drain in oil rubbed bronze to match our Kohler Devonshire faucet. Kohler ships a traditional pop-up drain with the faucet, but because our sink is a wall-mount, I was keen to find a bronze-colored tail piece to have a consistent appearance above and below.(...and obviously, my rating is largely based on the lack of finish. If you're going to mount this into a cabinet-style sink without overflow, where the tailpiece will be hidden behind doors, then ignore this review...)It didn't help that Kohler does list a oil rubbed bronze tail piece on their spec sheet as optional equipment, so I was eager to believe that the photo here on Amazon's website was a Photoshop error. Alas...As stellar as the reviews are for this drain, I went with a Kraus PU-10 instead. It has a consistent finish through-and-through, and is very close in color to the Kohler faucet we were trying to match. There apparently is a bronze colored tail piece available for this Kohler drain, but it stop short of the threaded section, where the bright silver color is retained.

Kohlers are amazing quality for a competitive price. This will coordinate with several vibrant brushed nickel accessories in their line. The drain is heavy and designed well.
