We also use a solar water heater to get our pool temp up but even with the cover on during sunny days, the pool is warmed 4-5 degrees more than if the cover is off and on cold nights the warm temp is retained. It is made of a very thick material, although not a safety blanket it would buy some time if a kid/dog fell in the water. The cover doesn't just swallow you up...very rigid...happy with the purchase. We also have ours attached to a reel for easy on/off.

We live in a warm, windy and mostly sunny place but the pool was always a bit cold and we stopped swimming in it 6 months a year. We left the blanket on the pool when not swimming. In two days, we could feel the water was better. In a week, it was so warm we could just lay in the water at night. My son complained it was more a jacuzzi than a pool, he found it too hot! It's easy to adjust the temperature by letting the cover on more or less time. When the winds blew, the pool cover stayed in place and the water stayed deliciously warm. We have only tried it in spring yet and we love it.The cover arrived very quickly. It was bulky but not to heavy for two people. The blanket was easy to cut to follow the shape of the pool. One person can put or remove the cover but it is easier and faster with two people.We also noticed less water loss probably due to less evaporation.On the minus side, the pool doesn't look as beautiful with the plastic cover on the water. You see plastic, not water. You have to get used to the hassle of removing the cover when you want to swim.But for us, it is well worth it. We love our warm water and our only regret is to not have bought one earlier.
