Product Description
High carbon steel, unsharpened handmade Iaito designed for heavy training use. This sword has the same weight and balance of your "battle ready" katana without the sharp edge. The 1045 high carbon blade is polished and designed to look just like its sharpened counterparts. The blade is full tang and secured with dual bamboo pegs. Your Iaito can be taken apart for care, display, or demonstration. The hardwood handle is using real ray skin and features a tight cord wrapping. All traditional parts have been used, including high quality copper tsuba and fittings, and brass collar and seppa. This sword is ideal for training and practice use, and is also suitable for plays, movies, and reenactment use where a sharpened blade would be too dangerous.

Excellent quality for the price. The tsuka (handle) is very tightly wrapped. All fittings are also very tight. Very good weight, perfect for iaido. The saya (scabbard) is a bit lower quality (very light with a low quality sageo, wrapping cord) but it is more than sufficient for practicing and I would rather have the better quality sword than the saya. Would recommend and purchase again for myself or as a gift. Pleasantly surprised!!Update - Blade length is 28" from tip to tsuba (guard). The tsuka (handle) including the tsuba is 11", making the total length of the sword 39".The blade is not sharp at all. It has a rounded edge which makes it perfect for training. The only thing you have to watch out for is the blade tip which could stab if not careful.

Saego tightly tied with decorative knot. Yokote and (fake) Hamon show inconsistency but it still look good. Blade is lightly coated with white grease. You can clean the blade but I don't know how to clean it all out of the Saya. I get more grease on the blade every time I sheath the sword. Service was fast and at this price I recommend it as a good buy.

So far the sword has been great for forms practice, it has a good weight and balance, solid construction, and good wrap that hasn't shifted much even with heavy practice.
