Although this is a five star table and is beautiful, I debated whether or not to give it three stars. Ultimately, I compromised with four stars. Read on to see why!This is an absolutely lovely coffee/cocktail table made from solid wood with, I believe, cherry veneer. It's extremely sturdy (it weighs 145.5 pounds) and note that, because of its weight, you will definitely need two people to assemble this table. That said, assembly is easy and can be done fairly quickly with two people working together. There are only eight screws to install and the four knobs on the drawers. The table top raises easily and there are two medium-sized storage compartments under the table top. There are four drawers with adequate storage for TV, DVD, BluRay, and cable/satellite remotes, plus various and sundry items. As well, there is surface area on top of the drawers, below the top portion of the table where items can be placed. The wood is lustrous and the grain is well-matched. This truly is a beautiful table.The reason I didn't give this five stars is that my table came out of the box with two very long, very noticeable scratches across the top. I've taken pictures and have uploaded them here for people to take a look at. The scratches are approximately 9.5 inches and almost 18 inches, so not little marks. I'm so disappointed about this, as shipping cost almost $140.00 and I can't reasonably disassemble the table, figure out how to repack the pieces into the very large box they came in, properly repackage the box, wrangle the 145.5 pound box into my car, and pay $140.00 to ship it back for a replacement. I do plan to contact the seller through Amazon and express my concerns and will update this review regarding the level of customer service I receive. Even at a considerably reduced price ($255.00 from just under $1000.00) I expect a stellar product in pristine condition from a store advertising itself as "fine furniture" (Coaster Furniture via Brookstone via Amazon) and I don't at all feel this is unreasonable. This is a fine piece of furniture; it's just that the scratches on the table top are really unacceptable.Shipping on this item was not timely. It did say that shipping would take a few extra days. However, it took a month for the table to be delivered, which is more than a few days delay.
